According to Consensus Action on Salt & Health (CASH), despite previous progress made by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) to lower salt intake, salt levels in several common processed food products have increased since 2010, when responsibility for the UK’s salt reduction programme was removed from the FSA and handed to the food industry.

CASH has released new research that shows several ‘essential’ food items typically found in the everyday shopping basket contain the same amount or more salt than before 2010.
