Wearable technology is expected to be used in order learn more about the recurrence of mood disorders.

The approach, run by Massachusetts General Hospital and its patient-driven research network, the MoodNetwork, will use wearable technology that monitors patient’s voices, text and call patterns in order to predict the recurrence of depression and mania.

The approach is based on a similar to concept to how tracking heart rate or blood pressure may be used to detect heart disease, only now it is tracking behavioural patterns to predict mental health relapses.
